Originally, this was Stef Heeren???s (Gent, Belgium) dark folk solo project??? still is.?? But on The Nebulous Dreams this musical Morpheous become a more onerous Oneiroi enlisting the aid of some near nightmarish frightening Phobetors & fantastical Phantasos forming surreal visions.?? Heeren???s compositions assume a dark dream state encompassing powerful, agonized, lumbering & forlorn figments.?? Violas, cellos, pianos, organs, drums & bass sustain a surreal & shifting moody darkness.?? Serenity does briefly flow in & reveal acoustic alchemies, but not before a more shadowy specter intrudes.?? Its murky haziness draws into focus offering vivid percussiveness that almost culls this subconscious vision of aboriginal spirituality.?? Emotive robust vocals & shrieking children???s voices accentuate the gloomy & sometimes fearsome lucid reveries.?? I???m trying to wake up, but I can???t wake up??? not yet.
