Kang, Eyvind – “Yelm Sessions, The ” – [Tzadik]

The music on this CD lies somewhere in the intersection of renaissance, baroque, cinematic, modern classical and symphonic. Kang, whose parents are Icelandic and Asian, is a violinist and composer who is based in Seattle. There are strings, brass, reeds, keyboards, vocals, percussion, rain, frog and bird ambience. A big variety of styles and sounds from track to track, my favorites are 1, 7, and 10.
