Primitive Calculators ??? s/t A-Library CD {Chapter Music}This re-issue is primal sounding synth driven Aussie post punk (circa 1978) for sure though not overly calculated.?? It is volatile, visceral & ragged.?? Factor in aggressive pre-programmed pop electronics, cold metallic synths, and raw thudding assaults alongside guitar strangulations & screeching to the chaos.?? It pulses & throbs, inciting involuntary body spasms.?? Some selections on this live recording click, tick, and introduce ear chattering tidbits & drum machine delectables.?? Spawned during the era when the Boys Next Door would be reborn as the Birthday Party, the Primitive Calculators thrived equally on the psychedelic, no wave & proto-punk scenes; an apparent influence on their own manic music.?? Additionally you???ll find an atonal cover of ???Shout??? as well as rather tedious and rubbery synth cover version of Sonny & Cher???s the ???Beat Goes On??? that is on par and more bizarre than the Screamers rendition. The bonus cuts boast material from subsequent project, the Moths who cover the Fugs??? ???Nothing.????? Fantastic!???? ?????????????? ?? LANGUAGE: 2, 4 Comment on this review |
