What We Live ??? Sound Catcher Jazz CD {Fire Museum}

Recorded live at the Trinity Episcopal Church (N.Y.) you catch some improvised divine semi-standard jazz revelations straight from the Koran.?? OK so maybe it???s not a strict interpretation but the impassioned voice of Turkish singer Saadet Turkoz definitely belts out some stellar restructured religious recitations.?? She???s backed up by Lisle Ellis on bass & electronics, Don Robinson on percussion & drums, and Larry Ochs on tenor and sopranino sax.?? Turkoz seems to probe the tongue twisted realms of Diamanda Galas without resorting to raving tirades.?? You might say she???s more on par with vocalist Anna Homler who also engages in Galas styled inflections.?? The jazz improvisations move in slow motion, just lingering & morphing very slightly.?? This is nothing over the top & it???s definitely intent on sustaining a low-key ritualistic mood.?? Wish this could???ve taken off somewhere but I think this was meant to be a subtle stream of rippling sound & consciousness rather than a jazz jiving tidal wave crash.??????
