Yabby You ??? Deliver Me From My Enemies A-Library CD {Blood and Fire}This 1977 re-issue is classic roots & dub reggae from Kingston born Vivian Jackson (a.k.a. Yabby You). Deliver Me From My Enemies was originally released through Yabby???s own Prophets label before Britain???s Blood and Fire decided to increase its fidelity & overall sound quality. This was the album that helped boost Yabby You into the limelight following his ???Conquering Lion??? debut. Yabby???s soulful, strong, & steady voice easily harmonizes with the Prophets on back up and delivers powerful messages of human rights, world issues, freedom, love, unity, & peace. You is also intent upon giving fair warning to sinners about Judgment Time & Jah???s Vengeance. Difficult to deny his inspired positive pleas, especially since the stylish grooves provide added persuasion. The roots & dub mixture is a satisfying touch. Spiritualized bursts of organ & piano as when Yabby covers the Bleechers??? ???Pound Get a Blow??? are sparse but effective though the original trio may have nailed the vocal harmonies better. Other songs ease out reverb dubbed flute, trumpet, sax, & trombone (Deliver Me From My Enemies, Babylon A Fall). Trinity and Tony Tuff from the African Brothers lay down longer 12??? dub mixes here also. The re-issue boasts two previously unreleased dubplate mixes too and are a definite plus. Very good.
