Anti-Ear – “Holgurtz Tapes, The ” – [Self Release]

Weirdball earball bouncing. I feel like I’m the subject of an experiment
when listening to this…several times I felt like some of the sound
waves from this were triggering off neurological responses. Several
sections of of the static staccato on A-2 make my right side of my
face itch, the swelling sounds on the lead-off track make me a little
dizzy, and there’s a slice on A-5 that makes me think in Polish…and
I’ve never even learned that language!! Um, okay the first two were
true… On the second (Red lines) disk, there are two longer pieces
that sort of evolve and work more in the bassier regions. Less likely
to include space, instead keeping a hum/drone consistent for longer
phases…I found this less stimulating, although more like some of the
Empreintes Digitales releases… Somehow more liquid in nature, though
again this is just electronic music as on the other disk. The shorter
B2 has a kind of magma (as in lava, not as in French prog) feel. This
is burbly noise that is delivered in non-overload manner and what
(subjectively to my ears) feels like something resembling intention.
The tracks have a distinct flavor, and really some of the pitches
and twitches here, especially on the first (or Blue lines) disk, if
pumped in via headphones have very specific somatic responses. A real
cochlea knocker of a release.
