White Mice – “Blassstphlegmeice ” – [Load Records]

As menacing as all of the “Wolf” band releases from last year, Rodent
Island rock from this three piece. As subtle as an atom bomb, which is
what I thought was on the cover until I took a closer look. No pie-eyed
piping on this, just chum drums (that do actually explode on the end
of “Caged Mearachells”) along with triple dipped bass, fuzzed out like
mouse fur with a perm, and then wild knob jobbing on top of all that.
The vocals are almost more space-rock than throat-core, but they are
as gentle as “Ben.” And if you think I’m bad with the mouse puns, than
I guess you won’t be playing “Mousestassh Ride.” You’re loss. That one
definitely has the bass going for overdrive and it tickles at the end,
just like it’s title would imply. And it ends in “Sewercide,” come on
taste the fun, the bloody fun, that is the White Mice. This is brain-
scrabbling sludge-pump rock from three ear-blinding mice who should
bring their stage-cage show to KFJC some time.
