Bird By Snow – “Sky ” – [Gnome Life]

The lady or the tiger? The needle or the laser? DJ dealer’s choice here,
but it sure comes nice off the turntable, like your coziest slippers.
Pacific groove produces an even more pacified groove; not quite resigned,
not quite relaxed. Great homey lo-fi sound, like a micro 4-track nestled
into Fletcher Tucker’s chest pocket, and he’s whispering words down his
chest. And now an interlude…
“Buried by Snow? Huh, what’s that??”
“Quiet you’ll scare the hermit back into his cave in the forest…”
Gentle and true pop here, not to be missed, but almost feels like an
animal in danger of extinction. Enjoy the blend of banjo, melodica,
autoharp before they pave an overpass across it all. Hell, the two
truest “songs” on here are actually open-mic hikes. Tromping through
the underbrush, the other lyrical flora bloom fine besides them. There’s
even some low-voltage electricity accompanying the two man blended band
here. Nice clods of distorion on the A-side, with some sweet scrapes of
sound too. Fletcher has a steadfast sonic confederate in Spencer Owen.
Together they’ve produced what sounds nearly like music from a world
free of deceit. Shadows of ideals dance on the flickering walls. The
songs are not as blue as the vinyl, they offer zithery bliss albeit with
a congenital heartfelt murmur.
