Starship Beer – “Nut Music – As Free As The… ” – [Atavistic (Unheard Music)]

Atavistic reissue of obscure 1979 rock/noise/improv LP, with four previously unreleased tracks at the end. Forget about sound quality, this material was mostly recorded at band members? houses on cheap equipment. But talk about wild and wacky! Many different experimental approaches, from freakout guitar on #5 to yodeling on #7, and everything between and not between those two. #1 is a stream-of-consciousness dada rant; it goes on too long but it’s kind of hilarious. Some solo improv pieces, such as piano on #2, recorder/voice on #3, and clarinet on #4. #13 is eerie and echo-ey. My favorites are the atonal noise jams #9 and #15.
