Dalhous – “An Ambassador For Laing” – [Blackest Ever Black]

dalhous
Welcome to the Dalhous! I had hoped to get their 10″ EP “Mitchell
Heisman” for KFJC, but alas that order via a local record store
never turned up, so this is their debut for us, and sadly only our
third ever score from the fine Blackest Ever Black label. Dalhous
is two Scotsmen, Marc Dall and Alex Ander, their electronic music
has slippery beats with shades of dark ambience, producing a sleek
malevolence. Whispers of Delerium, to cite a favorite from KFJC’s
dirgey, dirty past. Bleakbeats, some cathedral organ vortex sounds
on the closer “Dreamers of Decadence” and a track they loved so
much they called it “Dalhous” as well. This is a good album to
fall in slow-motion to, but *only* in slow-motion. “Dwelling by
the Meadow” drops gracefully. The BEB label has some excellent,
other dark and more driving releases, hope this serves as an
ambassador to those, if not the Laing Art Gallery?!?!
