Spies, The – “Battle of Bosworth Terrace, The” – [Siltbreeze]

The Spies is a small group of relatively unknown young people primarily from provincial New Zealand who formed a loose musical collective; Susan Ellis and George Henderson (both of whom handle the vocals), along with Richard Sedger, Chris Plummer and occasionally Mark Thomas (vocals). This album was edited from a reel tape of recordings made over a few days in Wellington, New Zealand in 1979. But it’s a collection of previously unheard songs from a largely undocumented era of New Zealand music. Simply put, it’s psych-pop and rock, and watch out for tight segues.
