Chock block full o’ rock stocking barrel smoke. Seven songs
on side A, it must have hidden grooves, and then 8 more on
the flip with nary a half-breath between tracks! An urgency
is thus created akin to that found after four pints in five
minutes and six deep in the line for the toilet. This album
has gotta go, in the best worst way! It’ll make you do that
twitchy little dance…while you’re “Turning Blue” and
“Waiting for Something” (to cite two of the many killer cuts
and yes “Turning Blue” does feature a Rock ‘n’ Roll 101 riff,
later RnR 102 move appears twice with twin guitar lines.
Dreams and nightmares mingle fluids, a prime ministering to
the garage instinct – a toney blaring throughout. And the
drums are just fantastically neck-wrecking as you snap along
to the beat. Aerobic and acerbic…messy mesthetics. I really
like when Jay’s vocals get all spuddy, detached and hollow.
Bloody good…
