More time travel via ESP reissues. Back to
a time when The Godz walked the earth, 1966
and here is their first album. Requisite
drug reference for the requisite drugz they
were taking. Yields a porchy, scrappy, yappy,
trippy, folksy, bluesy concoction…humming,
groaning, meowing, complete with near-yodeling
experiences. At just one toke over 25 minutes
the effect is brief but fun. Like oddly ESP
connected mates Albert Ayler, Sun Ra and
Charlie Parker the Godz were *compelled* to
make music, and ESP allowed them to do it
in an uncompromising manner. With autoharp,
ratty acoustic guitars, rubbery bass and
what ever instruments they could find at the
local pawn shop. Proof that we have all
descended from Godz. Heritage. -Thurston Hunger
