Von Harmonson, Noel – “Born On The 4th of July ” – [Resipiscent]

Comets on Fire knob-goblin summons some amazing psychoactive
pyrotechnics here. A nice use of space and echoplexnology,
and a *great* sense of struggle through-out. Even though it
seems nothing stands in von Harmonson’s way, and he can get
the sounds he wants…these pieces of beautiful noise (no
oxymoron there) have this sense of stretching, fighting
and clawing through laser mine fields. Maybe it’s an elastic
feel of analog equipment? Maybe it’s the electric rooster
that wakes up on track 4? Things get pretty squealy at
times, so keep your dog’s choker leash on while listening
to this, and maybe strap one on yourself. Really a stellar
exhillirating sense of excitement on this, it won’t convert
pop purveyors to the dark path, but those who enjoy extreme
sounds will NOT be disappointed by this. -Thurston Hunger
