Macchi, Egisto – “Voix” – [Omni Recording Corporation]

Egisto Macchi (pronounce ae-GEES-toe MOCK-ee) (1928-1982) was an Italian composer especially known for his soundtrack and library music. (Library music was produced and recorded with the intent of later licensing it for film use.) Like Ennio Morricone, he was involved with GINC (Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza) and the improvisational avant-garde experience he had there comes through in his composed music.

These tracks involve (anonymous?) singers and chorus and players of strings, percussion, piano, marimba, chimes, and theremin. The music is mostly ominous and suspenseful and features sudden changes of mood. Nice remastering with good sound, quite interesting and affecting.

PGM: Title is French and is pronounced vwah.
