Uske Orchestra “Niko Et La Berlue” [Sonig]This ‘orchestra? is actually one multi-talented individual named Niko Uske. Pinpointing precisely what he’s doing here on this recording is an absolute mystery. I mean, is this even music? Sometimes certainty is lacking. You start with improvised & non-dubbed acoustic elements that sound harmonious but then abnormal off-kilter confusion seeps through with weird electronics and foreign lyrical mantras. Harmonicas, brass trumpets, piano, slide whistles, maracas, light tones, snaps, flutes, ukuleles, kazoo, and dozens of other instrument combinations complicate this puzzle for experimental sound creations. Avant garde, freak folk, jazz, pop, and numerous other sub genres make alternating appearances too, but, honestly, categorization is futile. Collaboration between Tiny Tim, the Fan Club Orchestra, and Master Musicians of Bukkake might closely resemble Niko Uske’s compositions, but even THAT doesn’t begin to explain the hovering irregularity. These are supernatural alien lullabies for extraterrestrial infants from Dimension X, who probably grew up in incubation chambers while singing along with Earth transmissions of the Muppet Show.
