Odd Nosdam – “No More Wig for Ohio ” – [Anticon]

Nosdam, a member of the Anticon family of weirdos, also works under the cLOUDDEAD moniker. On this solo release, he used samplers, beatboxes, and thrift store/garage sale records to build 24 short (mostly 1-3 minutes) untitled pieces. Tracks tend to be beat-driven with goofy stuff piled on top. For example, Track 1 has Shirley Temple, somebody singing in Spanish, and “Fish Heads” all within 2 minutes. Track 6 features a cheesy organ demonstration. Track 12 includes “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. Stuff like that. Scratchy vinyl sounds remind us of Nosdam’s thrift-store approach to obtaining source material. Several of the tracks near the end have a nice evil stomp that I like a lot.
