Infinitirock – “Music For Primordial Recollection” – [Asthmatic Kitty Records]

This album is enchanting. I love it. Listening to it made me break out of my uptight confinement of trying to time the tracks and got me to experience the music as a whole–don’t they call this a gestalt experience? Put the needle at the start of a side, glance at the track titles, and just listen to how this young glitch artist injects beats into all kinds of sounds: crumpling paper bags, rainstick shakers, birdsong and rain, glass ornaments that may be breaking, voices, guitars, percussion, keyboards, heartbeats, drumbeats, burbling, bubbling, scratchy static, hip hop and electronica and mellow prettiness all mixed together in an amazing way. It relaxes and energizes simultaneously. It’s lovely and the best medicine I’ve had in a while.
