Featuring Gabriel Roth of the Dap Kings this Brooklyn based group has not released in 5 years, instead curating the acclaimed FELA on Broadway. There is a lot to like with classic guitar riffs, bright and billowy brass, rhythmic keyboard. Throw in Funky guitar, soul jazz organ with intermittent latin horns and you have a tasty Yoruban/Brooklyn stew. This Antibalas version is not your Fela Kuti’s Nigerian Afrobeat filled with angry political protest of the late 20^th century. This 21^st century version embodies the principles of grassroots revolutionary movements that would fit nicely with today’s Occupy Movement. Musical democracy at its finest
