Liguori, Gianmarco – “Duga-3: Musical Directions By Gianmarco Liguori” – [Sarang Bang]Gianmarco Liguori founded the Sarang Bang Records Label in New Zealand, which claims to be “Specialists in the Psychological and Physiological Applications of Music,” and this album kind of proves they are. Liguori works on guitar, drum machine, percussion, Korg Polysix, and electronics, joined by Murray McNabb on piano, Fender Rhodes, flute, electronics, and Kim Paterson on drums, trumpet and percussion, they make a tasty instrumental jambalaya of jazz, rock, ambient, and international flavored sounds. I thought it sounded like each song feels like you’re watching a part of a story thats going on, they each have a particular mood and expression and present a particular landscape, then I found out Liguori was influenced by 1960′s movie soundtracks, go figure. Tracks are dreamy, hopefull, expectant, sometimes a bop beat, strange vocals on A2. Spin it… Comment on this review |
