Lab Rat XL “Mice or Cyborg” [Clone]

Detroit, Michigan’s socio-political techno agitators Lab Rat XL (a.k.a. Drexciya) lays down pulsing nocturnal electronica with Detroit Techno electro style. Premier electronica labels such as Shockwave, Underground Resistance, Warp, and Rephlex put out several of the duo’s recordings. Equally impressive & respected labels like Tresor, Kombination Research and Clone saw fit to release at least one of Drexciya’s projected ‘Seven Storms.’ Sadly, their powerfully talented group member James Stinson would ironically ride out this seventh & final storm unto his own untimely demise. Nevertheless, Mice Or Cyborg stands as an encompassing testament to their astute techno transmigrations; although admittedly earlier works have been far more impressive. Lab Rat 1 – 6 has unmistakable dance club beats but the mood varies from sensual murky smoothness to groovy bass bumpin’ synth sounds that stream over the cosmos. Tense groggy weirdness & delectable digital sequences permeate. You would totally dig on this swaying sonic experiment while driving along the starlit coastline with that special someone. I love these mischievous ambient drenched & elongated pop electronic rhythms! 3WR: Cybernetic Dance Laboratory
