Fan Club Orchestra “Sun Papa and the Fan Club Orchestra Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 [Sonig]

Improvised IDM glitch? Pre-fabricated electronic experimentations? Lo-fi digital orchestral projections? Fuck, who knows?! It could be all of those & more! Above all, Fan Club Orchestra’s deceptively simple collaborative presentation utilizes complex dubbing, production, editing, creativity, multiple sound sources, audio feeds and the hungry adversary that is video game addiction. This ambitious Belgian project is a natural progression from its proto-type, Scratch Pet Country. What began as a conceptually vague undertaking evolved into a collective of rotating members, this time employing 8-bit Nintendo Gameboys as the primary sound source. Mouth percussions, flutes, guitars, channel mixers, loop electronics, pocket sampler effects, trumpet tones, and synthetic piano intermingle along a buzzing harmonic pathway. It’s predominantly a subtle filtering sound wave but actually kicks in that inescapable warm fuzz sequence. Certain pieces start out fairly calm, transition into busy blip static, and drop down into meditative hissing sibilation. Those murmuring reverberations are variably sewn together with harmonic frequencies and pitch modulation. Whatever it is sounds amazing! This is theme music for secret warp levels, not digital disco dance music, OK?!
