Curse of the Birthmark “Welcome to the Hard Times…You’re Late [Deleted Art] (33 RPM)

Yet another wonderful improv noise synth trio from the San Francisco / Oakland / East Bay music scene. They remind me a bit of searing noise bands like Sightings, Neptune, and the White Mice. Distorted grizzled keys are menacingly mangled out via Weasel Walter (Lake of Dracula, Flying Luttenbachers). Eric Park’s straining guitar shrieks are only surpassed by his own sputtering, filtered & treated schizoid squelchy yelps. The bombast from Simon Phillips skins is equally distressing. It all unfolds like some twisted comic book plot in a super villain’s lair with futuristic machinery primed to reduce the sprawling metropolis to smoldering ruins. Yet when this revolving mechanistic apparatus blows a fuse and goes haywire all hell breaks loose. The ensuing destructive meltdown of frayed pulley cables, singed circuits, and massive exploding gears generates such tremendous kinetic energy, it inevitably kick starts an eruptive and incomprehensively devastating overload producing catastrophic consequences! Whoa!!! Holy shit that sounds serious! It IS damn it! Curse of the Birthmark is your fantastic new sci-fi thriller, Jackie Boy! Limited Edition LP ONLY pressing of 300 copies! Grip the tone arm, prick the needle, and drop it like it’s hot!
