Serpent Crown – “Serpent Crown Demo” – [Myspace.com/theserpentcrown]

Thrash-core metal trio from SF. Fronted by destructive guitrarist Dara Santhai, who also provides vocals and writes the tunes. Technical poundage from drummer Will Carrol (of Old Grandad). Heavy bass keeps the sonic walls moving in as the listener is pushed down the chamber–recording features Rafa Martinez (former of Acid King and other bands), current bassist is Dave Dinsmore (past BL’AST!).

All tracks are generally uptempo dark riffage power laden bruisers. Vocals are the intelligible terror laden scream chants of a blood bathed axe lasher. Production delivers great presence with no contrivance. Turn it up.

Three live 2006 performances from this duo [(Hiroshi Hasegawa {from CCCC, Astral Traveling Unity,...}: synth & ring modulator) / (Keichi Miyashita {from Mandog,...}: guitar & tape echo)], with third track bringing in Hiroshi Higashi (synth) from Acid Mothers Temple.?? Space noise blues style presentations. It’s basement psych droney with tasteful applications of effects. Does not get way out in terms of burning guitar or feedback, no vox.

Track 1: noisescape entry, psych drone groove riffage with effects treatment.

Track 2: dub cavernous, harvesting cosmic waves, conveyor belt
mindway of space intention.

Track 3: freak modulations, pitch weaving squeal, layersqueezexpansion through the brain funnel meltdown; six string ripples lap at gentle shores.
