Vaz – “Visiting Hours” – [Sleeping Giant Glossolalia]

Noisy but tight rock; insistent, varied rhythms, sludgy bass.
Side two has long, repetitive instrumental passages, including drones in last track that ends in a locked groove, but all songs have lyrics.

Members were in Hammerhead and La Otracina.

FCC: One “fuck” at the end of A2, Mutator.

  • Tunnel, The – “Apparition Overdrive” – [Glorious]

Fourth album by this SF band led by Jeff Wagner, whose previous project was The Tunnel of Love.

The band’s website compares it to Nick Cave, but it sounds to me more like Bauhaus meets the Cramps meets Iggy meets early Pere Ubu, but more sparse than any of those, despite the fact that this duo now has four people.

Sounds like 1982, and yet fresh.
